About Michael Helms, CPA/PFS, CFP®:
With more than 20 years of experience providing financial planning, strategic investment advice and comprehensive tax management solutions, Michael Helms joined WealthShield Partners as a Wealth Manager in 2017. His hands-on experience and client-first focus is central to the company’s ongoing growth, evolution and support services: helping both the organization and its customers gain a critical competitive advantage.
Immediately prior to his joining WealthShield Partners, Michael was the Managing Director of EverGreen Financial Services, Inc. Here, he worked with independent clients in the greater Greenville area, leveraging in-class asset management and broad-reaching tax and financial management solutions to maximize and preserve their long-term wealth. Before EverGreen, Michael served in a variety of managerial and client-facing roles at top companies, including KPMG, Ernst & Young, Wells Fargo, CitiGroup Global Markets, Inc. and Raymond James & Associates, Inc. in Tampa/St. Petersburg.
Michael earned his MBA with a focus in Accounting and Finance as well as his B.S. in Finance from the University of South Carolina at Columbia. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), CPA Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and he is a member of the AICPA. Additionally, Michael is a long-time member of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and is an active volunteer in his community.
In alignment with the principles of WealthShield Partners, Michael does not believe that simply diversifying among several asset classes and periodically rebalancing protects your portfolio from significant downturns optimizes investment returns. Stock prices are determined in the same way as all other free market prices, by the law of supply and demand. Michael’s approach uses technical analysis to identify asset classes that are exhibiting strong (and weak) demand. He tilts portfolios toward areas of strength and reduces exposure to asset classes that are exhibiting weak demand.
Why WealthShield Partners:
Michael uses a fee-based structure, meaning that we only charge for services rendered. He does not charge commissions for the sale of financial products, thus eliminating the conflicts of interest inherent of such an arrangement. Fee-only financial planning places the focus of the client relationship where it should be: providing unbiased advice that is in your best interest.
